Lopez Island has one of the most perfect libraires that I have ever been to. The childrens section is incredible! I have heard that the rest of the library is great too, but I have not made it that far yet. The library grounds is a apple orchard with cute red adorondack chairs all around. We have 3 library cards, one for Chris, one for me and one for the kids (each card has a limit of 4 dvd's or movies). Let's just say that the only thing that has ever been checked out on my card are the additional Dora movies that we "needed" because the kids were over thier limit. As i was looking through my camera to see if we captured any good photos of our beach dinner, our hike to Iceburg point (incredible) or any of our new family members (chickens and goats) I realized how much of our life is spent listening to Dora, Diego and all of the others...I'm the MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPP. Good news is that Christian can count and Ethan can speak in spanish... bad news is Dora is taking over! (The other day Ethan had a car that Christian wanted, and Christian was following him around saying, eas, eas, eas (please, please, please) and Ethan turned around and said, if you ask me in spanish I will give it to you. :) I was cracking up... I said to Ethan, I don't even know how to say that in spanish!

The sadest part is that these images are not just from 1 photo shoot, but many days amongst the other activites that we find ourselves doing.
*One other thing about the library... each wednesday is story time. It is so fun, they read all sorts of good books, sing songs, play finger puppet games, etc and pass around a snack basket. So I was expecting to see the usual "snacks" like goldfish, fruit snacks that don't resemble fruit, etc. But guess what it was. The childrens' librianian had paddeled her little boat into the sea, picked a fron from a kelp plant and dried it by her fire... and then served it to the kids at story time. I was somewhat shocked and excited all at the same time. It tasted salty, but not too bad and it was fun to see the kids learning more about the world around them.
I want to come to library story time. That sounds awesome. It's too bad that can't be how it is all over the place. And, there is a lot worse than Dora if you ask me.
